Privacy Policy — GeoDataFarm Mobile

This policy describes how the GeoDataFarm Mobile app (“the app”) handles information when you use it to record farm activity.
Who this policy covers
The app is provided by Axel Hörteborn, operating GeoDataFarm. Contact: geodatafarm@gmail.com.
What the app collects
Account credentials. When you log in, the app sends your farm name, username, and password to our server over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to verify your identity. Your farm name, username and password are then saved on your device, in Android’s encrypted app storage, so that the app can sign you back in automatically without asking you to type them again — this is what keeps the app usable in a field with no signal, and it is why the password itself is kept rather than only a token. Those saved credentials never leave your device except as the login request described above, and they are deleted from the device when you log out.
A login also gives the app a temporary session token, kept in the same encrypted storage. A session lasts up to 8 hours from the moment you log in, after which the app obtains a new one automatically using the saved credentials.
Farm records you enter. Planting, fertilizing, spraying, harvest, tillage, and soil observation entries you create in the app — including field names, crop names, dates, quantities, and any notes you write — are sent to our server and stored in your farm’s database.
Data held on your device. Entries you save are written to a local queue on the device first, then sent to our server when a connection is available. They are not deleted from that local queue once sent: the app keeps them so it can offer you the values you entered before as suggestions on the next entry, and so a record is never lost if a transfer fails. The app also keeps a local copy of your farm’s form configuration for the same reason. All of this local data stays on your device, and is removed if you clear the app’s data or uninstall it.
Location. When you open the field map or draw a field boundary, the app asks for permission to use your device’s precise location, and shows your position on the map so you can see where you are relative to your fields. Your position is used only for that display, on your device — it is never sent to our server or to anyone else, and it is not recorded in your farm’s data. Field boundaries are the points you place on the map yourself, not a recording of where you have been. You can decline the permission; the map still works, without the position marker.
Crash diagnostics. If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a report to our own server containing the error message, the technical stack trace, the app version and your device’s platform (for example “android”). If you are logged in at the time, the report also records which farm and username were in use, so a fault can be traced to the setup that triggered it. These reports contain none of your farm records. They go only to our own server — no crash-reporting or analytics service is involved — and if the app cannot reach the server, the report waits on your device until it can.
What the app does not collect
The app does not request access to your camera, contacts, microphone, or photos. It does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software of any kind.
Map imagery from third parties
The map screens load map and satellite imagery from outside providers — OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap Foundation) and World Imagery (Esri). To draw the map, your device requests image tiles directly from those providers, which means they receive your device’s IP address and the area of the map you are looking at, under their own privacy policies. We do not send them your farm records, your credentials, or your position. If you do not open the map screens, no such request is made.
How your data is used
Solely to provide the app’s core function: storing and retrieving your farm’s records so you and your farm’s other authorized users can view and manage them. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
Where your data is stored
Farm records and account data are stored on servers we operate (geodatafarm.com infrastructure), each farm in its own database. Data in transit between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your farm account is active. The app does not currently have a self-service “delete my account/data” option — to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, contact geodatafarm@gmail.com. (If/when in-app account deletion is added, update this section — Play Console’s Data Safety form asks about this directly.)
Data held on your own device is removed when you clear the app’s data or uninstall the app. Logging out deletes the saved credentials and session token from the device.
Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA, data protection law gives you the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to receive a copy of it, and to object to or ask us to restrict how we handle it. Contact geodatafarm@gmail.com to exercise any of these; we handle your data because it is necessary to provide the service you have signed up for.
Children
The app is a professional agricultural tool, not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated “Last updated” date.
